Members brought some of their cattleyas and phalanopsis to the presentation, displaying them on a table to the speaker’s right.
They included orchids by Brigitte Fortin and John Picariello, as well as a cattleya by Richter.

Richter has been growing orchids for more than 30 year and his greenhouse is home to more than 3,000 plants, society member Brenda Samiljan said.
The society meets monthly. on the second Thursday except in the months in which they travel to orchid shows around New England.
The orchid society meets next Oct. 13, at 7 pm at the Swampscott Senior Center.
The meeting will be an auction.
