Summer Arrives in Swampscott
A small crowd of local residents made their way down to the Sun Circle at Preston Beach this morning to usher in the first sunrise of the summer season.
By the time residents began funnelling into the walkways surrounding the Sun Circle at 's Beach Bluff Park early this morning, a sense of much-welcome change was in the air. As dawn approached, a small crowd of area residents began streaming into the ring of monoliths, where the smell of incense and lightly playing tribal music set the tone.
It has already beensince a crowd of residents huddled together in the same spot, looking to move on from what was certainly a trying winter. There were fewer sweatshirts at this celebration, far more smiling faces - and in the minutes before the sun rose everyone on hand became an amateur photographer.
Here is a video gallery for those of you who could not be on hand. Although the crowd was at Preston Beach, we left a little early to capture this morning's sunrise from a vantage point at Chandler Hovey Park. Happy Summer!
