Swampscott Adds Gender Identity to Its Non-Discrimination Policy
The town is the 12th in the state to include the language.

The Town of Swampscott has added language to include gender identity in its non-discrimination in public spaces policy.
According to an article in TheRainbowTimesMass.com, Swampscott is the 12th jurisdiction in the state to include such language.
MassEquality said in a press release that members of the Swampscott Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to add the language at their Wednesday night meeting.

“Thank you to the Swampscott Board of Selectmen, transgender visitors and residents will be safe and protected,” Carly Burton, interim co-executive director of MassEquality, said in a statement.
Other jurisdictions to include gender identity in their non-discrimination policies include Boston, Cambridge, Somerville, Northampton, Salem, Amherst, Brookline, Medford, Melrose, Worcester and Newton, according to MassEquality.
