Swampscott Girl Makes All-Star Soccer Team

With more than 20 points for the season so far, this high school freshman was the top scorer on the all-star team.

It’s a swing and a hit for Swampscott native Maggie Barden who has been named to the Catholic Central League Large All-Star team in soccer.

A freshman at Austin Preparatory School, Barden was not only the only freshman named to the all-star team, but also the team’s top scorer. Barden’s contributions to the team led her to earn the title “Rookie of the Year.”

Barden scored 20 goals and 3 assists so far this season for a total of more than 20 points.

But it’s not all sports for this high school athlete, Barden was also named to the honor roll for her first semester at Austin Prep.

Before heading to her current high school team, Barden played soccer in Swampscott on the Swampscott Stripers. She was an important player on that team as well, securing a win for Swampscott after taking over the center offensive position.

In the past, Barden also played basketball at Swampscott Middle School and swam with the North Shore Swim Club.
