Swampscott Man Finds Pearl Worth Thousands in Seafood Stew

After almost breaking his tooth on the strange little stone, a Swampscott man might cash in big.

An average night out to dinner with his family turned into an exceptional night with a single bite of seafood for Mike Serino, a Swampscott police officer, according to itemlive.com.

When he bit down, expecting a mouthful of seafood stew, Serino instead found a strange, light purple stone. It almost broke his tooth, but instead of tossing it aside Serino took it home and gave it to his daughter.

While watching TV almost six years later, itemlive reports, the Serino family saw a similar stone that had been appraised for $3,000.

It was an extremely rare purple pearl, which starts out at a dark purple and eventually fades to lavender.

The Serinos searched their home and found the pearl in their daughter’s jewelry box. They later learned that it is worth at least $1,800 and could be appraised for tens of thousands of dollars.
