Swampscott Public Library Continues Collecting Coats
The Coats for Kids program will continue through the holiday season.
Through the busy holiday season, Swampscott residents continue to donate slightly worn winter coats for the program.
Residents are encouraged to continue donating winter coats of all shades and sizes to the .
According to Laura Spathanas, project coordinator for the Coats for Kids program in Swampscott and surrounding towns, well over 100 coats have been donated so far.

Ultimately, these coats will protect children and adults from winter's cold temperatures. The jackets are given to people in need who live in the Greater Boston area and Southern New Hampshire.
After the coats are collected they are brought to Anton's Cleaners to be cleaned free of charge. Anton's has cleaned and distributed more than 562,000 winter coats for the program since 1994.

From Anton's the coats are delivered to 10 locations for storing.
Distribution partners then deliver them to people in need.
These distribution partners include charities ranging from the Boston Family Shelter to the BU Medical Center Outreach Van to violence intervention advocacy programs and other programs throughout the state.
The Swampscott Public Library will collect slightly warn coats for the Coats for Kids program until Dec. 30.
