Swampscott Resident Becomes Governor on Thursday

Charlie Baker's Swampscott home will become a governor's mansion on Thursday.

Charlie Baker’s Swampscott home will officially become the governor’s mansion when he is sworn in as Massachusetts’ 72nd governor on Thursday.

Neighbors of Baker’s Monument Avenue home told 7News in November that he was a “regular guy” and they expected he would remain a good neighbor -- albeit with a police detail outside his home -- once he was sworn in as governor.

Baker’s inauguration ceremony at noon Thursday at the State House will be followed by a party at the Boston Convention Center (tickets are $50 each), according to The Washington Post. Additionally, there will be a free, open-to-the public event at Union Station in Worcester on Friday, his website states.

And then there’s the concert. Baker will also welcome his favorite band, Dropkick Murphys, at an inauguration party at The Strand Theater in Uphams Corner Dorchester, according to the Dorchester Reporter.
