Dear Editor,
You may be aware that several residents on Muriel and Lodge roads in
Swampscott have had dirty (often brown, yellow, tainted, or milky) water coming from their taps, toilets and showers for over fourteen months. At a recent Board of Selectmen's meeting the residents presented evidence of the situation and asked for a fair remedy and abatement from the town.
Fortunately, Roger Carroll from the Swampscott Disabled American Veterans
(DAV) Chapter 64 was in the audience and heard about the problems.
Roger had heard that Swampscott Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) Post 1240 possessed 50 cases of 16 ounce bottles of water which they wanted to donate. Roger told Selectmen Glen Kessler about the surplus water. Both Roger and Glenn were generous and made sure that the water was received by Muriel/Lodge spokesman Ruel Longfellow who in turn
has been kind enough to deliver it to us and our neighbors. We wish to take this opportunity to thank DAV Chapter 64, Swampscott VFW Post 1240, and selectman Glenn Kessler for this kindness. Town administrator Thomas
Younger has been very civil in working with this situation. We also thank Gino Cresta for flushing the system periodically, and we are grateful for Gino’s long-term plan which we are told will be implemented in the spring. Again we, the Swampscott residents listed below, wish to thank all concerned who provided the bottled water for their act of neighborly concern and generosity.
Respectfully,
Paul and Kelly Bilodeau
