Alex's Lemonade Stand at Discount Madness A Success

With the support of its customers, business raised more than its original goal in the fight against childhood cancer.

Tewksbury’s Discount Madness Alex’s Lemonade Stand event raised more than $1,800 for the fight against childhood cancer with its recent event.

The event was held on Saturday, August 23 and had support from several local businesses including Disney’s Imagination Movers (who donated a gift basket full of Mover Merchandise, while also tweeting out to all the fans in Lowell to stop by and “wet their whistles”), according to Discount Madness Owner Brad Cerullo.

At the event, lemonade was given out in return for a donation to the ALSF charity to help support the fight against childhood cancer. In total, the Discount Madness event raised $1,846.24 for the fight against childhood cancer, beating the company’s original goal to raise $1,000.

Leading up to the event, customers were abel to buy paper lemons at the register, and when purchased they hung in the store with each donor’s name on them.

“Through paper lemon sales, alone, we met our goal three in three weeks,” Cerullo said.

“On the day of the actual lemonade stand, a lot of people came by for lemonade, raffle tickets, or simply to just donate to the cause. My kids, Eric and Lily, were there and dedicated to the cause, telling people about Alex and what she tried to do with her own stand,” he added.
