Boston North Business Association Awards Two Scholarships

Awards presented to two Tewksbury High graduating seniors.

is awarding two scholarships to local Tewksbury High School seniors -- Robert Wallace and Elizabeth Marchand.

Boston North Business Association has a tradition of supporting local high school Students by providing scholarships to students who meet the criteria set by the scholarship committee.

The association formally know as Tewksbury Business Association (TBA) generate the scholarship fund through a fundraisers and support of local merchants. The 2011 fundraiser was in form of April 2011 calendars that were sold for $10 each and allowed the purchaser to participate in daily drawing of prizes ranging from Gift Certificatesfrom local vendors to Amazon Kindle. The fundraiser was a great success, the BNBA members purchased enough calendars to generate more than $1,300 in funds that will be awarded in two scholarships this year.

"Our Members really step up to the plate, they showed strong support of this event and ourscholarship committee helped generate the buzz needed to make this fundraiser a greatsuccess. It was a lot of work for all of us at the BNBA but was worth every minute of it. We are helping two local High School seniors secure college funds and ease the tuition burden on their parents," said Hanson Bechat, chairman of the association.

The Scholarship committee was formed by: Hanson Bechat Of Neighborhood Parcel, Caroline McAllister of Dick Insurance, Tricia Edris of Mary Kay.

According to Bechat, 2011 will be the last year BNBA will be granting scholarships. The organization will be focused on other community programs that have bigger impact on the society and will continue to focus on helping its members.http://bnbanetwork.com
