OUTDOOR CONCERT SERIES: Abraxas (Santana Tribute Band)

Monday, June 16, 6:30pm

Enjoy a concert from the popular Santana Tribute Band, Abraxas. Celebrate the golden era of Carlos Santana's music. This tribute band has meticulously crafted a show that celebrates the legacy of Santana's unique blend of Latin-infused rock, blues, and jazz fusion. With an impressive repertoire that spans the entirety of Santana's career, from the classic hits to the deep cuts, Abraxas delivers a performance that is both authentic and electrifying. No registration required. This concert will take place on the library's back lawn. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets or chairs. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be rescheduled. To supplement the cost of next year's concerts, the Friends of the Library will be selling raffle tickets and accepting donations at a table near the stage.

Love chatting about movies new and old? This is the place for you! Join fellow cinephiles four times a year to dig into a recently released film and chat through the plot, themes, cast, cinematography, and more. We'll start with The Wild Robot (2024) directed by Chris Sanders and starring Lupita Nyong'o and Pedro Pascal. This film is rated PG. Meetings will take place in the second floor Trustees Room. DVD copies of the film can be borrowed from TPL or through our wider library network of MVLC.

IN PERSON: MORNING MOVIE -- The Wedding Banquet (*RR)

Enjoy a screening of one of Hollywood's newest DVD releases -- The Wedding Banquet. A gay man makes a deal with his lesbian friend: a green-card marriage for him, in exchange for in vitro fertilization treatments for her. Plans evolve as Min's grandmother surprises them with a Korean wedding banquet. Starring Bowen Yang and Lily Gladstone. Romantic Comedy. Rated R. 1 Hour, 43 Minutes. Doors will open at 10am. Film will start at 10:30am. Candy & water will be served. A $1 donation is suggested.

Calling all knitters, crocheters, needle workers, beaders, and colorers! Bring your own craft project to the Library and work on it while enjoying conversation with other crafters. (Please, no crafts involving glue or paint.) Take advantage of the many books available at the library to get ideas for your next project or to explore a new craft.

OFFSITE: Take A Hike Through Tewksbury Hospital Cemetery (*RR)

The Tewksbury Open Space & Recreation Committee and the Tewksbury Public Library invite you to take a guided hike of through the Tewksbury Hospital (Pines) Cemetery. The hike will be led by Open Space & Recreation Committee member Tom Branchaud. This easy hike is 2 miles long and will last approximately 90 minutes. The trail goes through the Pines Cemetery -- you will get a view of the Pines Burial Ground that was in use from 1890 into the 1930's, as well as some lesser known trail segments of these very popular trails. For parking, type "420 Livingston Street" in your GPS and park in the dirt lot.

Lorelei, the creative director of Lorelei's Lit Lair and host of the virtual club "Let's Talk Romance Books,” will discuss some of her favorite romance beach reads. Affectionately referred to as a passionate Romance Ambassador, Lorelei has been offering book recommendations, author spotlights, giveaways and connecting authors with readers through social media since 2010, providing a safe and friendly environment for book lovers around the globe.

Celebrate the artists and the shows that broke ground to amplify LGBTQIA voices on Broadway. Explore the lives and works of the accomplished Terrence McNally, Harvey Fierstein, Lisa Kron, and Paula Vogel. Led by Stephen Nachamie, an award-winning stage and film director who has worked on Broadway, Off-Broadway, regionally and internationally.

Admire gardens, feudal castles, Mount Fuji and much more as we explore these Japanese cities. Led by retired high school teacher Sheila Taub, who now presents illustrated talks on her travels at libraries, senior centers, community centers and cruise ships.

The Massachusetts Library Collaborative's 50+ Job Seekers Group meets via Zoom on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month, from 9:30am to 11:30am. Informal networking takes place from 9am to 9:30am and 11:30am to noon. If you are unemployed and actively looking, underemployed, seeking a new career direction, re-entering the job market after a long employment gap, or recently retired and looking for your "Encore Career," this networking group program is perfect for you! Remember, 85% of jobs are found through networking!

Join us for stories, songs, movement, instruments, dancing, and more for the whole family. Get your early literacy skills on! All of our story times are interactive for children and their caregivers. Please be ready to participate and play. Don't worry, we will have a printout with all of the songs and rhymes we are using so you can follow along! This story time session runs every Mondays from June 16 to August 4 (excluding closings and illnesses). You can drop in one week, every week or however works best for your schedule.

Celebrate the last day of school and the start of summer with free family fun at Livingston Park on Tuesday June 17th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm! The event features: free ice cream from the Tewksbury Police Department's ice cream truck; crafts for kids and teens; face painting; henna; summer reading sign-ups; music; hula hoops, chalk art, and bubbles; and more! This event is hosted in partnership with the Tewksbury Police Department and the Town of Tewksbury.

IN PERSON: Sidewalk Chalk

Come enjoy the sunshine with us behind the library! We'll have plenty of chalk to draw with, and the sidewalk will be our canvas. All you need to bring is some sunscreen and a smile! No registration required. This event is weather permitting. If it is raining, we will meet in the Meeting Room and draw with chalk on black paper. This event is open to children ages birth to grade 5.
