DiFruscia Outraises, Outspends Robertson In September

Both candidates ended the month with over $20,000 on hand for the home stretch of the Tewksbury-Wilmington statehouse election.

TEWKSBURY, MA — Challenger Alec DiFruscia both outraised and outspent the incumbent Dave Robertson in the Wilmington-Tewksbury state legislative race in September, according to campaign finance reports filed by both candidates.

The Sept. filings show that DiFruscia, a Tewksbury Republican, raised $11,379.94 in September and spent $7,125.43. Robertson, a Tewksbury Democrat, raised $4,316.62 and spent just $3 in the 19th Middlesex District race.

DiFruscia's campaign expenditures in September included yard signs, campaign materials, Facebook advertisements and stamps. Robertson's campaign spent $3 on a bank fee.

Both candidates concluded the month with over $20,000 on hand, with Robertson's $21,464.84 war chest slightly larger than DiFruscia's $20,717.05.

DiFruscia has raised over $48,000 total, versus just $22,000 for Robertson since the 2018 election, when Robertson was first elected.

DiFruscia raised money heavily from Tewksbury residents: 64 Tewksbury donors have given his campaign over $10,000 total, versus just eight Wilmington donors combining for $825. Since the 2018 election, Robertson has been more evenly split, with over $4,000 raised from each town. In his first race, Robertson also drew heavily from his home town.

In the latest filing, DiFruscia reported five $1,000 donations, from residents of Newton, Dover, Winchester, Middleton and Rochester. Robertson's largest receipts were four $500 donations, from the Ironworkers Union Local 7 PAC and residents of Wilmington, Billerica and Tewksbury.
