Dozens Without Power In Tewksbury Day After Car Crash
Nearly 300 lost power between Tewksbury and Lowell after an accident around 5:30 p.m. Monday.
TEWKSBURY, MA — Over 80 Tewksbury residents were left without power after a vehicle accident Monday night damaged the National Grid's electrical grid. Two power lines came in contact, causing a voltage surge in the Woburn and Felkner Street area at the Tewksbury-Lowell town line. National Grid crews must inspect each service before restoring power, so 50 homes remain without power in Tewksbury as of 4 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency.
Crews are going home to home checking for damage to meters, meter sockets and customer electrical equipment, National Grid said. If there is damage, power will remain out until the damage is repaired.
The infrastructure damage is repaired, according to a National Grid news release issued Tuesday afternoon. As of 3 p.m., they had individually inspected 86 homes between the two towns. 296 lost power.
