Few Detals As Investigation At Tewksbury State Hospital Continues
Investigators were on the hospital grounds Wednesday, but officials are still keeping mum on what they're looking for.

TEWKSBURY, MA -- Tewksbury Police said in social media posts Wednesday that police activity near Tewksbury State Hospital was "connected to an ongoing investigation." On at least three occasions since the start of the year Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney's office have been on the site, including last week, when they used excavation equipment.
"This is not connected to a recent incident and there is no threat to the public," Tewksbury Police said. That's similar to the answer given by the District Attorney's office when contacted by Patch last week. Other local officials have also tried to reassure residents.
"I have received a number of calls from concerned residents of Tewksbury," Selectman Mark kratman posted on Facebook last week. He included the statement from the Middlesex District Attorney's office, which has declined to offer any other information.

In addition to last week's work, State Police detectives assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney's office conducted an extensive search on the property of Tewksbury State Hospital earlier in January. While officials confirmed that the search, which included police dogs, took place, they would not offer any other details.
