Kumon To Host Literacy Event On Saturday
Event is in partnership with Reading Is Fundamental.

Kumon, the world’s largest after-school enrichment program, is partnering this month with Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), the nation’s largest children’s literacy organization dedicated to providing books and literacy resources to underserved children across the country.
is celebrating this partnership with a literacy open house event on Saturday, March 3rd from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at 1721 Main St (MGM Plaza). Families of school aged children are invited to attend the free event, which will feature fun games, prizes, refreshments, read aloud sessions from classics like Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss, and more. For every student that enrolls this month, Kumon of Tewksbury will donate $10, equivalent to four new books, in support of RIF. Kumon North America is committed to donating a minimum of $50,000 in support of RIF’s mission.

“Reading is essential to the academic and personal development of children, opening their minds to new worlds, people, and experiences,” said local Kumon Instructor Alpana Aggarwal. “I’m excited to celebrate the joy of reading with families of the Tewksbury and nearby communities.”
Kumon’s reading comprehension program strives to enhance the reading ability of children and create lifelong readers. With learning centers in 47 countries, Kumon Instructors around the world create personalized lesson plans for each student. The curriculum is designed to foster independent learning skills that allow students to progress through the work, eventually studying above their grade level.
