Local Mom Finds Educational Toys Are The Perfect Home Business
For Lashanta Magnusson, Discovery Toys is more than just a job.

Every home based business has a story. Lashanta Magnusson and her Discovery Toys business is no exception.
In 2004 Magnusson was working full time and raising two sons. “Right about that time, my younger son was diagnosed with ADHD,” she recalled.
Realizing that a lot of schools and other professionals used Magnusson began thinking about becoming a representative.

“The occupational therapists and speech therapist both used Discovery products,” said Magnusson, “so it seemed to fall hand in hand with what I needed for my son.”
Having grown up with Discovery Toys, Magnusson knew a lot about the company and what it stood for so taking the first steps towards a new career seemed like positive move.

“In the beginning I was certainly looking at the discount on toys that I needed for my son,” said Magnusson. “I never imagined where it would lead.”
Today Magnusson takes pride in working with a company that stands by its products. Able to sell, as she puts it, “a product that kids enjoy that, at the same time helps them learn,” Magnusson has made a career out of helping families.
“The toys are hands on learning tools,” she said, “It’s all in what you are trying to accomplish.”
With a full range of toys that are appropriate for newborns through school aged kids, Magnusson and her Discovery Toys are finding new uses and customer bases every day.
“I have nursing homes that come to me for toys geared towards fine motor skills, along with college students looking for board games to play at school," she said.
Most important to Magnusson, however, is being able to watch kids and their families flourish.
“I love watching kids interact and learn,” said Magnusson. “It’s absolutely amazing to see what they can come up with.
“A lot of families don’t know where to turn for help, and that’s where I was back in 2004.”
