Man Stole Vehicle From Tewksbury Auto Shop: Police

A man is facing charges after he stole a car in the middle of the night from a Tewksbury business, police said.

TEWKSBURY, MA — A man has been charged on accusations that he stole a car from a Tewksbury auto mechanic, according to police.

Police were dispatched at 9:11 a.m. Sunday to a Main Street business on a report of a stolen vehicle.

Police spoke to a man who said he dropped off his car, a 2023 Acura, at the business Saturday for maintenance, but when he to pick it up the next day, the car wasn't at the shop.

Surveillance footage showed the Acura leaving the business at 1:42 a.m. Saturday.

Police were then dispatched to the Motel 6 on Main Street as the Acura had been spotted in that parking lot.

Following an investigation, police arrested Henry Cruz, 26, of Lawrence. He was charged with receiving stolen property, possession of a class B substance, larceny of a motor vehicle, breaking and entering into a motor vehicle in the nighttime, and receiving stolen property motor vehicle.

Police said they found several strips of Suboxone on Cruz when he was arrested.

An investigation also found that while taking the Acura from the business, Cruz tampered with and opened packages that did not belong to him.

He was scheduled for arraignment at Lowell District Court on Monday.
