Man Who Went On Tewksbury, Reading Crime Spree Punched Guard, Inmate At N.H. Jail
Michael Munroe, 35, is charged with breaking another inmate's socket and elbowing a guard.

BRENTWOOD, NH -- Michael Munroe, the 34-year-old man whose 2016 crime spree included a carjacking in Tewksbury and Reading, as well as two bank robberies in New Hampshire, was indicted on felony charges of two counts of assault by prisoner for his role in a May incident while he was being held at Rockingham County Jail. Munroe allegedly punched another inmate, fracturing his eye socket, then elbowed a correctional officer. The new charges were handed down by a grand jury earlier this month and carry 7 1/2 to 15 years in prison for the Class A felony and 3 1/2 to 7 years for the Class B felony.
David Cosentino, the jail’s assistant superintendent, verified the new charges to Seacoastonline.com, which first reported the story. As part of a June plea agreement, Munroe pleaded guilty to the bank robbery charges and admitted to the Massachusetts carjacking, an assault in Epping and car thefts in Manchester and Epping, N.H. during the two weeks he was at large.
