More Than A Dozen Nonprofits Will Accept Donations At Saturday's Tewksbury Zero Waste Day

One group will even take the kitchen sink -- as long as it's new or "like new."

TEWKSBURY, MA -- Tewksbury residents can drop off a wide range of items they no longer need during the town's ninth annual Zero Waste Day at the Wynn Middle School parking lot on Saturday, September 23. More than a dozen groups will be accepting the items, which will either be reused or recycled.

The event has the added benefit of lowering Tewksbury's dumping fees, as many of the items donated would have otherwise been put out by residents for curbside trash collection.

Among the groups participating in this years event are Bikes Not Bombs, which is accepting used bicycles, Boston Building Resources (building materials) and Central Massachuseets Mosquito Control, which will recycle any un-rimmed tires -- a known breeding place for disease-carrying mosquitoes. More information, including a complete list of acceptable donations and participating groups, is available on the Tewksbury Recylcing Committee's Website.
