New Children's Resale Shop Opens in Town

There is a new children's resale shop in Tewksbury, and according to its owner, the store is the "talk of the town."

Christy Endicott is an admitted shopaholic.

As a Tewksbury mom of two girls, she knows firsthand how expensive it is to buy clothes. She would love nothing more than to pass on great deals to others.

So she opened , 1445 Main St., in June. A server and bartender for 18 years, she has always shopped in consignment stores for her 3 and 7 year old daughters, Olivia and Alexandra.

On entering the 450 square foot store, customers will find it "organized and clean, similar to a boutique in Marblehead, but with the lowest prices around," said Endicott.

She said wanted to create an upscale look, without the expensive price tag. Her stock includes many noted brand names.

New items include handmade Royal Princess Doll Fashions that fit American Girls dolls, novelty soaps, handcrafted aprons, teddy bears, photo albums. A unique item is the diaper cake which she describes as the "best shower gift." She said also carries handcrafted jewelry by LindaLindaLinda, and hair accessories that make great birthday gifts.

Sweet Pea has acquired 37 consignors in the short time the store has been open. The policy is a 50/50 split with items kept for 90 days. Endicott reserves the right to determine all prices and create sales and only accepts gently worn items that have no stains or rips. Books, baby equipment, games and toys are also accepted.

Consignors also receive a 10 percent off shopping pass for the first month.

Endicott said that advertising for both customers and consignors is done through Craigslist, word of mouth and flyers at schools and daycares.

Daily deals posted on website the night before. "It is a fun way for my customers to see what is going on the next day," she explained.

Although all sales are final, Endicott is flexible if there is anything wrong with an item.

Sweet Pea has connections with 13 mothers groups in Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire. She offers them shopping events where they can get 15 percent off clothing.

Endicott said that she can also arrange exclusive shopping nights for any group of mothers of the community. "Not only can be a night out, but a fun way for moms to get together to shop and talk," she explained.

Her daughters are with her after school and will often entertain customer's children, while they shop. On more than one occasion, they know the children from school.

During the summer, the store will be open Monday-Friday, 9am-7pm Saturday, 10am-7pm and Sunday 10-4pm. Sometimes Endicott, who works the store by herself, will close early on weekends, but any changes are posted on the website.
