Opinion: Buckley For State Rep In Tewksbury And Wilmington

Tewksbury resident Brian Smith says Republican Erin Buckley is the best of the nine candidates running for state rep.

TEWKSBURY, MA -- The following letter to the editor was submitted by Brian Smith of Tewksbury:

Beyond the flash and attention of our current State Rep campaign, there is the job of actual governance. On the municipal level the bulk of this work falls onto relatively unknown officials — this is where Erin Buckley is already doing a great job for us.

I have seen her work on both the Finance Committee and Local Housing Partnership first-hand. My neighborhood was directly affected by the now defunct Astle St. project. Everyone I spoke with saw this as a monstrous development and a clear cut case of overdevelopment — but would anyone in town government speak-up? Erin Buckley did. From questioning the developer in a sound and professional manner to casting a message-sending abstaining vote at the Local Housing Partnership meeting, Erin puts her money where a lot of mouths claim to be.

Erin Buckley is already working to keep Tewksbury the town we know and love and she will undoubtedly do the same for Wilmington. We have the opportunity to give her the platform she has earned, both with her work here in town and her work already accomplished on Beacon Hill. We have this special opportunity to put our best interests in the State House; it’s an opportunity we cannot afford to miss. Vote Erin Buckley for State Rep.
