📰 News we're reading

• Tewksbury police terminate Flock Safety contract (homenewshere.com) — Tewksbury's police chief has decided to end the department's contract with Flock Safety and shut down the town's 20 license plate reader cameras after months of resident privacy concerns. The move comes just days before an Oct. 6 Special Town Meeting, where two citizen-backed warrant articles could set permanent rules for surveillance technology and license plate readers in Tewksbury.

• Tewksbury Board of Health keeps Jimbo's closed for repeated food violations (homenewshere.com) — Tewksbury's Board of Health has voted unanimously to keep Jimbo's Roast Beef and Seafood on Main Street closed, citing years of repeated food-safety violations and inadequate kitchen facilities. Before the restaurant can reopen, the owner must complete renovations, work with a food-safety consultant, and submit a detailed sanitation and monitoring plan that satisfies the Health Director.

• Surveillance regulation articles on warrant (homenewshere.com) — Tewksbury's Select Board spent a long Sept. 15 meeting dissecting two citizen warrant articles that would tightly regulate surveillance technology and license plate readers in town. Member James Mackey, the petitioner, plans several clarifying amendments before Town Meeting, while other officials worry about legal exposure, school security systems, and the town's ability to comply with strict new rules.
