Hearing For Tewksbury Selectman Mark Kratman Rescheduled

Kratman was arrested and charged with drunk driving in Wilmington, on Veterans Day. The next court date is not until Feb. 12.

WOBURN, MA — Tewksbury selectman Mark Kratman's pre-trial hearing Friday was rescheduled for February 12, the clerk's office of Woburn District Court confirmed. Kratman was arrested on Veteran's Day in Wilmington and charged with operating under the influence of liquor. Wilmington police received several calls about Kratman's driving, and according to the police report he was was "confused" and at times unintelligible when he was pulled over.

After being arraigned on Nov. 12, Kratman's first court date was scheduled for Friday, but it will now be two more months before his pre-trial hearing.

According to the Wilmington police report, that three people independently called the police over erratic driving before police pulled it over. At that point, he was unable to find his vehicle registration or answer clearly where he was going. He had had "like three beers," he told police.

The police officer wrote that Kratman gave several answers when asked where he was going and when he was coming from and eventually failed or was unable to complete three sobriety tests. At the station, he blew a .20 breath test. His license was suspended and destroyed by police.

Kratman was first elected selectman in 2015. He is currently the board's vice chair. He ran unsuccessfully in the Democratic primary for a state house seat in 2018.
