State Police Grad Accused In Tewksbury DUI Crash: Prosecutor
A Tewksbury man and recent graduate of the State Police Academy was charged with driving drunk after an accident.
TEWKSBURY, MA — A Tewksbury man was charged with driving drunk following an accident Sunday night, according to a statement from Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.
James Doran, 28, was charged with operating under the influence after a crash in the area of Main Street and Clark Road in Tewksbury. The crash occurred at 11:12 p.m. when Doran's car allegedly struck another car from behind.
"Upon arrival police observed Doran to be allegedly unsteady on his feet with slurred speech while smelling of alcohol," Ryan's statement reads. "Police also located open alcohol containers in the vehicle. Doran was arrested on scene and was also cited with being in possession of an open alcohol container."

Two people in the other vehicle involved in the crash were taken to an area hospital for evaluation, according to Boston 25 News.
Doran is employed by the Massachusetts State Police, according to Ryan's statement.

He was released on personal recognizance with conditions to not consume alcohol and to surrender his license. The next court date in this case is Dec. 6.
