Tewksbury Inspectors Try To Stop Recycling Fines
The town received a state grant to hire five inspectors who tag "incorrect recycling." Here's how to avoid getting tagged.

TEWKSBURY, MA -- Packing peanuts, dirty food contaminators and dirty diapers -- yes, dirty diapers -- were among the non-recyclable items Tewksbury residents tried to recycle last week. The town received a state grant to help educate residents and avoid fines from trash haulers when non-recyclable items find their way into recycling bins. The grant allowed Tewksbury to hire five recycling inspectors, who spot-check recycling bins on trash pickup days.
"Tagged recycling is logged and will not be picked up until your next scheduled recycling date," the town said in a notice posted on its Website Friday morning. The notice includes a list of some of the items that were tagged last week and how the items should have been disposed of.
