Adult Events (In-Person Only)
A Concert with Áine Minogue, Irish Harpist
Monday, November 13, 7pm
Join us for an evening with Irish harpist and vocalist, Áine Minogue. Born and raised in Borrisokane, County Tipperary, Ireland, Áine is an award-winning harpist, singer, arranger and composer who has entertained Presidents and Prime Ministers, as well as traveled extensively to perform at concerts across the United States and around the world. With a dozen solo album recordings to her credit, Áine has been nominated for several awards for her work as a record producer. Her music, in varying styles including Celtic, World, Folk, Spiritual and New Age, has appeared on compilations for industry labels. Many of these albums have topped Billboard Magazine’s World, New Age and Classical Charts for months at a time. Her music can be found on Pandora, Spotify, iTunes, and Amazon. Áine has a Master’s Degree in Traditional Irish Harp Performance from the University of Limerick, Ireland.
Meditation Class (*RR)

Chris Connolly, RN, BSN, owner of "Living My Dream Yoga," will lead a 4-week series of meditation classes. Classes will take place from 11am to noon over four Wednesdays -- November 1, November 8, November 15 and November 29 -- in the library's Meeting Room. (Please note there is no class on November 22.) Classes are designed for both those who are new to meditation and regular practitioners.
Crafternoon
Wednesday, November 15, 1:30pm
Calling all knitters, crocheters, needle workers, beaders, and colorers! Bring your own craft project to the Library and work on it while enjoying conversation with other crafters. (Please, no crafts involving glue or paint.) Take advantage of the many books available at the library to get ideas for your next project or to explore a new craft. We will be meeting in person.
In Celebration Of Pickleball (*RR)

Pickleball players unite! Erin McHugh, author of the book, Pickleball Is Life, will celebrate all things pickleball -- its great social benefits, how it's easy to learn (and takes a lifetime to master!), its plusses on mental health and wellness, its quirky rules and nutty etiquette, and just why it is so obsessive! And yes, there will be a pop quiz, swag, Q&A, and generally a lot of great information mixed with a lot of laughs. If you love pickleball or if you want to start playing pickleball, this is an event you won't want to miss! Light refreshments will be served.
National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) Write In (*RR)

Can you write 50,000 words in 30 days? Why not give it a try? That’s the challenge of National Novel Writing Month, better known as NaNoWriMo. Every November, hundreds of thousands of people all over the world attempt this very thing, and you can do it too! And what better place to put some of those words down than at your local library? This year, Tewksbury Public Library will be offering two Write In events. Join us (and members of the Lowell/Merrimack Valley chapter of NaNoWriMo) and put pen to page (or fingers to keyboard) for writing sprints, discussion, inspiration, and snacks! We’ll also be offering a writing challenge on Beanstack and the chance to win prizes! This event is Drop-In; no registration required, and you can stay for as long as you like. Just bring a laptop or notebook and join in!
FILM SCREENING: Barbie (*RR)

Enjoy a screening of one of Hollywood's newest DVD releases -- Barbie. Barbie suffers a crisis that leads her to question her world and her existence. Starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. Rated PG-13. 1 hour, 54 minutes. Doors will open at 6:30pm. Pizza & water will be served. A $2 donation is suggested. VIRTUAL: Exploring Japan’s Artistic Sensibilities (*RR)

Kimono, netsuke, swords, lacquerware, screens, and scrolls. Come explore the variety, complexity and beauty of Japanese art. For the Japanese the functionality of an object was not enough; it also had to be aesthetically pleasing and display the skill of the artisan, the taste of the patron, and the values of the culture. Luxuriate in this fascinating program highlighting some of the exquisite objects in the Japanese collection of the Asian Art Museum. Led by Mary Mead, a docent with the Asian Art Museum.
VIRTUAL: JOB SEARCH HELP -- How To Create A Standout Resume (*RR)

VIRTUAL: Mystery Author Sarah Driscoll Discusses "That Others May Live" (*RR)

Author Sara Driscoll will discuss her brand new mystery, That Others May Live: An F.B.I. K-9 Novel. VIRTUAL: No Irish Need Apply -- A History Of The Irish In Boston (*RR)
Tuesday, November 14, 7pm
Examine the Irish experience in Boston from the 17th to 20th centuries. Explore the story of Irish indentured servants in the mid-17th century and continue with the history of the Irish community in Boston, covering the first real migration of the Irish in 1718, the arrival of the Scotch-Irish (Ulster Irish), and the pre-famine trickle of Irish immigrants and resulting increase of anti-Irish sentiment. The massive wave of immigration after the Great Famine will then be discussed, including their condition on arrival, where they settled, the work they did and how they assimilated into American culture, followed by the rise of the Irish in Boston politics. Led by author and historian Christopher Daley, who also serves as a public high school history teacher. Daley, who has appeared in history programs on the Travel Channel, formerly served as President of the Pembroke Historical Society and Chairman of the Pembroke Historical Commission.

The Renaissance in Northern Europe was a period of ground-breaking artistic achievement. Artists like Albrecht Durer and Pieter Bruegel the Elder created works that described daily life in astonishing detail, often with religious overtones. Receive an introduction to the leading artists from the period and decode their meticulously rendered symbols. Led by art historian Jane Oneail, owner of Culturally Curious, who curates and delivers art appreciation programs to audiences throughout New England. With a Master’s in Art History from Boston University and a Master’s in Education from Harvard University, Oneail has worked at some of New Hampshire's most esteemed cultural institutions, including as Executive Director of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, and Senior Educator at the Currier Museum of Art.

Take a photographic excursion from the rocky headlands of Cape Ann, through historic Essex, to the expansive saltmarshes of the Plum Island Estuary and the barrier island beaches at the mouth of the Merrimack River. Enjoy beautiful scenery and an incredible variety of wildlife that not only survives but prospers during our harsh winters. Led by Bill Gette, Founding Director of Mass Audubon’s Joppa Flats Education Center in Newburyport.

Tiny Tykes Story Time

Tiny Tykes Storytime is designed for young children ages 0 to 18 months. Older siblings are always welcome to join in. Join us for a fun session of stories, songs, fingerplays, instruments, and gentle movement that help build early literacy skills. Babies experience the sounds and structure of language through rhythm, rhyme and repetition.
Sprouts Story Time

Join Miss Kat for stories, songs, movement, instruments, dancing and more, and get your early literacy skills on! Sprouts Storytime is designed for is designed for little ones 18 months through 4 years, but siblings are always welcome.

Join Miss Kat for Lego Cub every other Wednesday night. We'll provide the Legos, and you can build whatever you can dream up in sixty minutes. This program is intended for kids ages 6-11.
Preschool Playgroup

Preschool Playgroup is back! Learn some literacy skills and have some fun while you're at it! This program is hosted by Community Teamwork.
Reading with Rabbits

Learn about the rabbits that farmers raise at Land’s Sake Farms! This program includes a rabbit-themed story time, learning about rabbit behavior and anatomy, and more! The highlight of the program is the Bunny Circle, where youth are able to touch and interact with live rabbits.
Teen Events
Decoupage Cloth Bowls (*RR)
Tuesday, November 14, 3:30pm
Join us for another fun and functional craft--Decoupage Cloth Bowls! Attendees will have the option to make multiple bowls, although when they are brought home they will need 13-24 hours to fully dry overnight. NOTE: These bowls are for decoration purposes only, and while they can hold items like wrapped chocolate and candy, and non-perishable items like keys and paper clips--they cannot be used to eat out of or to hold perishable items (such as fruit/vegetables). Supplies will be provided for every registered attendee.
Gnome Planter (*RR)

Happy Gnome-vember! In celebration, join Emily to paint and design your very own gnome planter. Gnome planters can be used to hold plants, books, anything you can think of that will fit inside. This event is open to teens in grades 6-12.
Anime Club (*RR)

Join Emily for snacks and anime at our Anime Club meeting in person. This month we'll be watching Dr. Stone. Dr. Stone is rated TV-14. This event is open to grades 6-12. Awakened into a world where humanity has been petrified, scientific genius Senku and his brawny friend Taiju use their skills to rebuild civilization.
