Investigators learned that the victim had been in an abusive relationship with a man, later identified as Trevor Bady, and that Bady was accused of hitting and threatening her in the past, prosecutors said.
Lowell police had received a call shortly after midnight Friday from a person on Lawrence Street reporting that a male and female were fighting outside across the street.
The caller reported hearing a female screaming, “Get off me, get away from me, I don’t want to be with you anymore.” The caller also reported hearing gunshots.
Police responded but couldn't find the people involved. Video footage showed the victim yelling shortly before midnight and showed Bady leaving the victim's home shortly after midnight, according to prosecutors.
