Tewksbury Man Sentenced For Bank Robbery: Feds
A Tewksbury man will serve time in federal prison for robbing a bank in 2020, according to prosecutors.
TEWKSBURY, MA — A Tewksbury man was sentenced to five years in prison for bank robbery, according to a statement from prosecutors. Nicholas O’Neil, 40, was sentenced in federal court in Boston.
According to prosecutors, on Sept. 22, 2020, O'Neil entered a Santander Bank branch in Tewksbury and handed the teller a demand note and a red cloth bag.
O'Neil reportedly stole $5,689 in cash. He sped away in a white pickup truck, which was reported to police by a bank customer who had witnessed the robbery and followed the vehicle.

Police found the pickup truck a short while later and O'Neil was arrested without incident. The red cloth bag containing the stolen cash and demand note was found inside the vehicle.
In February, O'Neil pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery. He will also serve three years of supervised release.

An accomplice who was allegedly driving the pickup truck was also arrested in connection to the robbery. However, the charges against the accomplice were later dismissed.
