Tewksbury Native, Radio Personality Dale Dorman Dead at 71

Dorman passed away at his Tewksbury home on Tuesday, Oct. 21.

Tewksbury native and Boston-area radio personality Dale Dorman has died. The legendary radio personality died at his Tewksbury home on Tuesday. He was 71.

For almost half a century, Dorman worked for radio stations WOLF, WRKO, and WXKS-FM. From 2003 to 2008, he could be heard on WODS (103.3) every weekend where he finished out his career.

Throughout the 1970s and 1980s Dorman was a regular on-air personality on WLVI-TV with children’s broadcasting as “Uncle Dale.” He also occasionally was a featured announcer on the channel’s Saturday afternoon’s “Creature Double Feature.”

In 1995 Dorman was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In the fall of 2010 Dorman was inducted into the Massachusetts Broadcasters’ Hall of Fame at its fourth annual induction and awards luncheon.
