Tewksbury native Chris Mader will discuss his new book, Make the Adjustment: Finding the Courage to Embark on Your Own Journey of Transformational Change. Part memoir and part self-help, this motivational book will speak to anyone who is looking to implement positive change in their career and in their life. In addition to sharing his uplifting message with the general public, Chris -- a graduate of Tewksbury Memorial High School (Class of 1988) -- also looks forward to connecting with former classmates, friends and acquaintances from his childhood.

Enjoy playing board games while socializing with others! This month, board game extraordinaire Jonah McCreary will be teaching us how to play two games – “Everdell” and “Potion Explosion.” Additionally, several tables will be available for "open play" if you'd like to bring your own games or borrow one of the library's games to play. Light refreshments will be provided.

This month, join us for a discussion of Dial A for Aunties by Jesse Q. Sutanto. Follows the comedic shenanigans of the Chan family: after a bad date results in an accidental murder, Meddy Chan, her mother, and her three outspoken aunties must hide the body—and keep it hidden—all while working a high-profile wedding. For November, we'll be reading The Cat Who Saved Books by Sôsuke Natsukawa, about Rintaro Natsuki, a young man who has inherited his grandfather's beloved bookshop. Fearing the bookshop may have to close, Rintaro's world changes forever when he encounters a cat named Tiger, who recruits him on a mission to save books. Chris Connolly, RN, BSN, owner of "Living My Dream Yoga," will lead a 5-week series of meditation classes. Classes will take place from 3:30pm to 4:30pm over three consecutive Thursdays – November 7, 14 and 21 -- in the library's Meeting Room. Classes are designed for both those who are new to meditation and regular practitioners. This series is sponsored by Winchester Hospital to support safe events for the LGBTQIA+ Community. These classes are open to all.

As one of the leading end-to-end puzzle manufacturers in the country, Kirkwood produces and distributes top-tier puzzles nationwide, all managed under one roof. Learn, up-close, about the facility's puzzle printing, die-cutting, finishing, fulfillment, kitting, storage, distribution and logistics. A representative from White Mountain Puzzles, a client of Kirkwood Printing, will also speak to the group.

VIRTUAL: JOB SEARCH HELP -- 'The Stigma Trap' with Author Ofer Sharone (*RR)

Author Ofer Sharone will present findings from his new book, The Stigma Trap: College-Educated, Experienced, and Long-Term Unemployed, which is an eye-opening look at how all-American workers, even the highly educated and experienced, are vulnerable to the stigma of unemployment. The Stigma Trap is essential reading for anyone who has experienced unemployment, has a family member or friend who is unemployed, or who wants to understand the forces that underlie the anxiety-filled lives of contemporary American workers. The book offers a unique approach to supporting unemployed jobseekers. At a broader level it exposes the precarious condition of American workers and sparks a conversation about much-needed policies to assure that we are not all one layoff away from being trapped by stigma.

Take a look at these two Hollywood heavyweights who are as resilient as they come. With fun facts, trivia and film clips, Damon and Affleck fans will enjoy hearing this special Boston duo’s story. Led by Frank Mandosa, a film historian and Massachusetts high school Film and English teacher. Mandosa has been giving film lectures at libraries, senior centers, and community centers across the state since 2012. He is also the host of the "Silver Screeners" podcast and co-host of the "Movies Across The Pod" podcast.

Led by Clint Edwards, a New York-based composer, arranger, and pianist, who lectures on the great jazz bands, legendary band leaders, and virtuosic musicians from America's Big Band era.
VIRTUAL: The Night of Shamus -- Celebrating The Best In Detective Fiction (*RR)

The Shamus Award is awarded by the Private Eye Writers of America for the best detective fiction novels and short stories of the year. The Prize is given annually to recognize outstanding achievement in private eye fiction. Enjoy a panel of Shamus Award winners and nominees discussing their works and their detective fiction genre, including Gabriel Valjan (2024 winner for Best Original PI Paperback for Liar's Dice); J.R. Sanders (2023 winner for Best Original PI Paperback for Dead-Bang Fall); and Liz Milliron (2024 nominee for Best Original PI Paperback for The Truth We Hide). The panel will be moderated by Agatha Award-winning and Macavity Award-winning Anjil Babbar, who is a lecturer of Humanities at Boston University.

If you are unemployed and actively looking, underemployed, seeking a new career direction, re-entering the job market after a long employment gap, or recently retired and looking for your "Encore Career," this networking group program is perfect for you! VIRTUAL: Understanding The Naturalization Process In The United States (*RR)

Did you know there are six ways to become a U.S. citizen? Review each, with a concentration on the court option which produced a paper trail and can help with your family genealogical research. Also learn the ways in which citizenship was lost and perhaps regained at a later date. Led by Seema Jayne-Kenney, a professional genealogist and an experienced software instructor. She has a certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University, completed the ProGen program, is an active member of several genealogical societies, and serves on the planning committee for the New England Regional Genealogical Consortium.
VIRTUAL: Paul Durand-Ruel Brings Impressionism To America (*RR)

Paul Durand-Ruel, a French art dealer of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, was one of the strongest supporters of the Impressionists such as Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Camille Pissarro. Explore the opening of Durand-Ruel’s Impressionist gallery in 1886 in New York City and its impact on artists and collectors in America. Led by Martha Chiarchiaro, owner of Seeing History, who has brought history to life through the art of the times for more than 30 years. She received her Masters’ degree in the History of Art from Williams College and provides a variety of art history presentations at the Worcester Art Museum, the Worcester Institute for Senior Education (WISE), libraries, senior centers, and garden clubs.
VIRTUAL: Rembrandt & Vermeer -- Masters of the Dutch Baroque (*RR)

The Dutch Golden Age of Painting was ushered in by a prosperous middle class and a new demand for images like still-lifes, portraits and genre scenes. The undisputed masters of the era were Rembrandt and Vermeer. This program provides an overview of the artists’ careers and an introduction to some of their most famous works. Led by art historian Jane Oneail, founder of Culturally Curious, a company that curates and delivers art appreciation programs for audiences worldwide. With a Master’s in Art History from Boston University and a Master’s in Education from Harvard University, Oneail has worked at some of New Hampshire's most esteemed cultural institutions, including as Executive Director of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen and Senior Educator at the Currier Museum of Art. She has also taught at the college level for more than a decade, most recently at Southern New Hampshire University.

Bill Clinton’s 1992 campaign for the presidency took him from relative obscurity to the White House in less than a year and a half. His victory came in spite of early setbacks on the campaign trail, lending new validity to his nickname – “The Comeback Kid.” While running for re-election in 1996, Clinton faced a new challenge – balancing his presidential duties with campaigning. Examine primary sources to compare the two campaigns and review schedules from 1996 to better understand how a sitting president runs for re-election. Led by Kathleen Pate, Education Specialist at the Clinton Presidential Library & Museum.

Join Animal Adventures Family Zoo and Rescue for a close encounter with animals. During this one-hour event you will learn about 8 to 10 different animals, which may include alligators, snakes, chinchillas, ferrets, hedgehogs, rats, bunnies, and more! Petting the animals is allowed at the discretion of your Animal Adventure guide. This event is for patrons in their 20’s and 30’s.

IN PERSON: Homeschool Board Games For Teens (*RR)

Want to meet other teens? Love playing board games? Join us for a meet and greet geared towards homeschooled teens! We'll set up a bunch of board games, grab some new friends and play. Due to the ability to host multiple people at this event, we will not all be playing the same game. There will be multiple games happening at different tables so everyone can find a game that they enjoy! This event is open to teens in Grades 6-12.

Join us in person to discuss the first volume of My Hero Academia and to pick the manga we'll discuss at the other meetings. You can pick up a copy of the manga in the teen room starting on November 1. This event is open to teens in Grades 6-12.

Bake any type of cookies at home and bring them in with a list of your ingredients. Our panel of judges will taste test each entry and pick a winner for our first ever TPL Teen Cookie Bake Off! IN PERSON: Toddler Story Time

Join Miss Emily for stories, songs, movement, instruments, dancing and more, and get your early literacy skills on! Toddler Story Time is designed for little ones from 2-5 years old. All of our story times are interactive for children and their caregivers. Please be ready to participate and play. (Don't worry, we will have a printout with all of the songs and rhymes we are using so you can follow along!)
