Do you love a good mystery? Join the library's Book Club, "The Armchair Detectives!" The Club is reading Because I Could Not Stop For Death by Amanda Flower. Copies of the book are available at the Front Desk.

IN PERSON: Meditation Class (*RR)

Thursday, September 5, 3:30pm

Chris Connolly, RN, BSN, owner of "Living My Dream Yoga," will lead a 4-week series of meditation classes. Classes will take place from 3:30pm to 4:30pm over four consecutive Thursdays -- September 5, 12, 19 and 26 -- in the library's Meeting Room. Classes are designed for both those who are new to meditation and regular practitioners.

IN PERSON: Pints + Pages Book Group (*RR)

A social book group geared towards readers in their 20’s and 30’s. The group meets on the first Thursday of every other month. The book discussion will be hosted by librarians from the Wilmington and Tewksbury Public Libraries. This month, the group is reading The Secret History by Donna Tartt. The discussion will take place at the Horseshoe Grill in North Reading.

IN PERSON: 1-on-1 Summer Tech Help (*RR)

The Tewksbury Public Library is offering 30-minute 1-on-1 tech help sessions. Assistant Reference Librarian Renee will provide help in the following areas: smartphone basics; tablet basics; basic use of hardware and software for desktops/laptops; email; and guidance on some of the library’s digital services, such as Libby (free eBooks and eAudiobooks). Please bring your device with you.

IN PERSON: AFTERNOON MOVIE -- The Fabulous Four (*RR)

Enjoy a screening of one of Hollywood's newest DVD releases -- The Fabulous Four. Three friends travel to Key West, Florida, to be bridesmaids at a surprise wedding of their friend from college -- which won't be easy, as one of them has to be tricked into coming in the hopes of mending a long-time grudge. Starring Susan Sarandon, Bette Midler, Megan Mullally and Sheryl Lee Ralph. Comedy. R. 1 Hour, 38 Minutes. Doors will open at 1:15pm. Candy & water will be served. A $1 donation is suggested.

Take advantage of cooler temperatures in the fall and plant something new before winter begins! It’s a very satisfying feeling looking upon a tree that you have planted yourself -- even years later -- but there is much more to ensuring that a tree is off to a healthy start than simply digging a hole. Learn tips for nursery selection, site preparation, proper planting technique, and aftercare for trees, shrubs, and woody vines. Led by Jen Kettell, BCMA, an arborist and owner of Radiant Leaf Consulting.

The Massachusetts Library Collaborative's 50+ Job Seekers Group meets via Zoom on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month, from 9:30am to 11:30am. Informal networking takes place from 9am to 9:30am and 11:30am to noon. If you are unemployed and actively looking, underemployed, seeking a new career direction, re-entering the job market after a long employment gap, or recently retired and looking for your "Encore Career," this networking group program is perfect for you! Remember, 85% of jobs are found through networking! Each biweekly meeting is facilitated by Deborah Hope, MBA, PCIC, an experienced executive career coach.

Author Terry Szuplat, one of President Barack Obama’s longest-serving speechwriters, will discuss his forthcoming book, Say It Well: Find Your Voice, Speak Your Mind, Inspire Any Audience. In his presentation, Terry will (1) take you behind-the-scenes of the White House to show you what it was like to write speeches for President Obama; (2) share tips on how anyone can become a better speaker and communicator; and (3) answer your questions about writing for a President, today’s political rhetoric, and whatever else you'd like to ask.

VIRTUAL: Climate Anxiety Counseling -- How To Live With Care & Purpose In An Endangered World (*RR)

Kate Schapira, author of Lessons from the Climate Anxiety Counseling Booth: How to Live with Care and Purpose in an Endangered World, will share methods for living with our emotional responses to climate realities and using them as guides to connection and action. In her hometown of Providence, Rhode Island, Schapira put up a booth to talk about climate change with concerned and anxious members of her community. Thousands of conversations later, she distills what she's learned into a book that offers both empathy and practical suggestions for addressing climate change with the help of others. This talk will focus on identifying and activating the potential for increasing each other's ability to contribute to a livable present and future in our working and community lives.

School Supply Fair For Teens

Wednesday, September 4, 4pm-6pm

Are you in grades 6-12 and looking to get school supplies to start the new year? Come pick up new supplies (free of charge) at TPL! Supplies have been generously donated by patrons and Walmart. No registration is required. This event will run until supplies run out or 6 pm, whichever comes first. Wondering what supplies we will have?
