Tewksbury Selectman Arrested, Charged With Drunk Driving

TEWKSBURY, MA Tewksbury Selectman Mark Kratman was arrested Monday in Wilmington and charged with drunk driving. The arrest, first reported by the Lowell Sun, occurred around 6 p.m. Monday, according to the Wilmington police logs. Kratman was arraigned Tuesday and his next court date is Dec. 6.

According to the police log, a caller reported an erratic driver swerving and going over the curb, driving into Wilmington from Tewksbury. The log says the car also ran a stop sign.

Kratman was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation, and a marked lane violation. It was his second operating under the influence offense.

Kratman was first elected selectman in 2015. He is currently the board's vice chair. He ran unsuccessfully for the state house of representatives in 2018.

Patch has contacted Kratman and Wilmington police and will update this story when we have more information. The Lowell Sun received a brief comment from the selectmen, in which he said he was coming from a Veterans Day event.
