Tewksbury Trick Or Treat Still On, Despite Weather

We have also your picks on the best areas to trick-or-treat, if yours is unsafe or sparse.

TEWKSBURY, MA — Despite forecasts of rain and winds, Trick or Treating in Tewksbury is still scheduled for 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, Oct. 31 this year, the town clerk confirmed. So if your kids want their annual candy overload, you might want to figuring out how to fit an umbrella or rain jacket into their costume — and yours. Paddington Bear with his raincoat and hat, or the Morton Salt girl with her umbrella, might work in a pinch.

Once you have your wet weather costume down, there's still a key question: what's the best place to go trick-or-treating? Patch asked our readers, and Tewksbury responded. Some residents asked people to stay in their neighborhood, to keep candy costs down for others, but other parents said they worry about trick-or-treating with small children on streets that are dark, busy and without sidewalks.

In response to our question on Facebook, Patch got a wide range of answers. Three people praised Mitchell G Drive, while others recommended neighborhoods or types of streets.

"All the dead-ends north of Andover Street are happy to have extra children, in a safe place," answered Mary Dumas.

"Vernon down by bay state. Tons of dead ends to go down and the grown ups sometimes get treats too. Love my neighborhood!" said Caroline Godin.

"I can tell you where you can get at least 10lbs of candy but it will cost you 2lbs," joked Duane Fifield.
