Thousands Vote Early In Tewksbury State Primary Election
Nearly 4,000 ballots had been cast early and by mail, as of Friday morning, according to the town clerk's office.
TEWKSBURY, MA — Nearly 4,000 ballots had already been cast in the state primary in Tewksbury as of Friday morning, town clerk Denise Graffeo said.
As of 10:15 a.m., 3,901 ballots ballots had been accepted, with over 6,000 ballots mailed out.
All voters were eligible to vote by mail in the 2020 state primary, and in-person early voting lasted seven days, ending Friday at 4:30 p.m.

With nearly 4,000 ballots received, Tewksbury voter turnout has already surpassed most state primaries in recent years. In 2018, over 5,000 votes were cast in town, but fewer than 3,500 voted in 2014 and 2016.

Tewksbury has several races on the ballot this year, with both Democrats and Republicans having contested senate primaries. U.S. House 6th District residents also have a Democratic primary to vote in, and there is a Republican primary in the state house 18th Essex District.
