Vandals Hit Signs, Trees At Tewksbury Park: Police

Police are investigating a vandalism incident at Rogers Park that occurred earlier this month.

TEWKSBURY, MA — Police are investigating a vandalism incident at Rogers Park. Police received a report Oct. 16 regarding damage to the park.

Officers responded and found a sign had been spray painted over with black and purple spray paint, according to a police incident report. Police also found more spray paint on trees around the area.

Police found blue spray paint on one of the trees that had the initials "JJM" and "f***" followed by a person's name.

Police checked the house department records and found a person by that name who formerly lived in Tewksbury. The person told police that they had moved out of state and hadn't lived in town since 2022, according to the incident report.

Tom Branchaud, chair of Tewksbury's Open Space and Recreation Plan Committee, expressed his disappointment about the vandalism, but said "the committee couldn’t be more pleased and thankful for the town’s immediate response," The Tewksbury Town Crier reported.

The town's facilities team was working to restore the park hours after the vandalism report was made.

The sign was damaged beyond re­pair, and the committee plans to work with local business Wicked Corn­hole to create a new sign, according to The Tewksbury Town Crier.
