• In Tyringham woods, archaeology brings a vanished Shaker community back into view (berkshireeagle.com) — Archaeologists and volunteers are carefully mapping and re-burying 93 grave markers in the historic Tyringham Shaker Cemetery, the last Shaker-owned parcel of the former “City of Love.” Using radar, LiDAR, and GIS, University of Richmond researchers are uncovering how Shakers organized burials and how the surrounding forest has changed, while raising questions about how best to protect this sacred local site.

Tyringham’s own vital records also document victim Betsy Garfield, connecting this tragic Berkshire legend directly to the town’s early residents and historical archives.
