• Sheriff Fears for Future of County Lockup (vineyardgazette.com) — The future of the Dukes County regional lockup, which handles arrests for all Island towns including Vineyard Haven, may be at risk as state lawmakers rethink sheriff department funding. Sheriff Robert Ogden is asking each town to formalize its use of the lockup so the state recognizes it as an essential service, while Rep. Thomas Moakley pushes a bill to secure dedicated funding.
