5 Things: Candidates To Debate Tonight
Five things worth knowing today, March 28, 2012, in Wakefield, MA.

1. Possible rain- Today there's a 40 percent chance of showers, mainly in the afternoon. Otherwise, it will be cloudy, with a high near 51 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
2. Today in Wakefield sports - Does your son or daughter play a spring sport at WHS? Wakefield Patch is looking for contributors to blog about each sport this spring. Blogging is easy - just email editor Sara Jacobi at sara.jacobi@patch.com.
3. Candidate's Debates - WCAT will be hosting their for the candidates for School Committee and the Board of Selectmen. The candidates for School Committee will be debating from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m., and the Board of Selectmen candidates will take the stage from 8:15 p.m. – 9:15 p.m. Both debates will be held in Studio A at WCAT’s studios at the rear of Wakefield High School. The public is invited to view the live debates in WCAT’s lobby and conference room. Questions to the candidates will be posed by the Wakefield Item's Mark Sardella and Bob Charlton of the Daily Times Chronicle. Both debates will be shown live on WCAT’s government channel.

4. Considering buying a home? - The Savings Bank invites Wakefield residents who are thinking about buying their first home to learn from local professionals about how to qualify for a mortgage and be an informed buyer. Representatives will tell attendees about how they can finance their home with The Savings Bank and handle realtions with the mortgage officer, real estate broker, conveyance attorney, insurance agent and home inspector. Space is limited and registration is required. .
5. Half day - For those of you with students in the Wakefield Public School system, remember, it's a half-day today. For those of you without kids in Wakefield schools, watch out for students and traffic as school gets out at WHS at 11 a.m., at GMS at 11:20 a.m. and at the elementary schools at 11:55 a.m.
