5 Things: Super Tuesday Edition
Five things worth knowing today, March 6, 2012, in Wakefield, MA.
1. Sunny skies - According to the National Weather Service, today will be sunny with a high of 36 degrees. A little chilly, but not cold enough to keep anyone from voting today.
2. Who's on the ballot? If you haven't been keeping up with the elections so far, don't worry, here's your rundown. If you're a registered Republican, your presidential primary choice is either Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Ron Paul or Newt Gingrich. For Republican State Committeeman, you have a choice between incumbent Albert Turco of Wakefield or Robert Aufiero of Melrose for Republican State Committeman. Brittany Carisella of Wakefield is running unopposed for Republican State Committeewoman. If you're a democrat, your choice for president is incumbent Barack Obama, incumbent State Committeeman Joseph Lawless III and incumbent State Committeewoman Betsy Sheeran from Wakefield, who are all running unopposed.
Three candidates are vying for the Green-Rainbow Party's presidential nomination: Kent Mesplay, Jill Stein and Harley Mikkelson.

4. For registered voters: The voter must receive the correct ballot that corresponds with their registered party (e.g. a Democrat can only receive a Democratic ballot, a Republican can only receive a Republican ballot and a Green Rainbow only receives that ballot). However, registered, but unenrolled voters may choose to vote in one of the parties, then return to unenrolled, or independent, status.

3. New polling places - A number of Wakefield residents due to the results of the 2010 Census. If your polling place was changed, you should have been notified by mail. If you're unsure, type in your address to check your polling place here.
5. Find out the local results - Sure, we'll all be watching TV to get the national results, but if you want to see how your fellow Wakefield residents voted in today's presidential primary as well as the local results for state committee representatives, check back with Wakefield Patch later tonight.
