Tom Grilk, right, a graduate of Wakefield High School and a 2011 inductee into the Wakefield High School Hall of Fame, and Nancy Fredrick, second from right, a WHS history teacher for more than 30 years, recently presented a generous donation of $10,000 to Center for Performing Arts President Peter Scott, left, and Executive Committee member Diane Lind, second from left. The donation was made in support of the CPA's efforts to pay down the remaining $120,000 line of credit on the new theater at Wakefield High School.
Until two years ago, WHS was one of only seven high schools in the state without a theater or dedicated performance space. In addition to its excellent sight lines and acoustics, the theater is equipped with state-of-the art lighting and sound systems.
In making the donation, Fredrick congratulated the members of CPA for their dedication and for bringing their plans for the theater to fruition. As a long-time teacher at WHS, she has taught hundreds of students who had no place in the school to display their talents in music and drama until the theater's opening in early 2011.

"The theater is a tremendous gift to the school and the community," Fredrick noted, "and Tom and I are happy to give back to the school that has been such an important part of our lives."
