Both Drivers Drunk in Serious Crash, Police Say
Two juveniles in one of the two cars involved in the early Sunday crash suffered serious injuries.

Both drivers involved in a serious two-car accident on Oak Street early Sunday morning were allegedly drunk, according to Wakefield Police.
The two drivers are facing Operating Under the Influence of Liquor and other charges as a result of the crash that also sent two juveniles in one of the cars to Boston hospitals with serious injuries.
At about 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, Wakefield police got multiple calls about a serious motor vehicle crash with injuries in the area of 150 Oak Street.

Within moments, several units from the Wakefield Police Department, Wakefield Fire Department, Action Ambulance, and AMR Ambulance were at the accident scene. The on-scene commander, Sgt. Joseph Anderson reported that at least one vehicle had rolled over and multiple occupants were trapped inside one of the vehicles.
A 2012 Acura MDX had rolled over and the operator and only occupant, 42-year-old Jacky An Xie of Saugus was able to free himself from the vehicle. Officers determined that he was under the influence of alcohol and he was placed under arrest at the scene.

The other vehicle, a 1993 Saturn SL2 had been operated by a 17-year-old juvenile from Wakefield. He was also able to free himself from the vehicle. Two juvenile passengers from Wakefield had to be extricated by emergency crews and were transported to Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Medical Center with serious injuries.
Officers determined that the juvenile operator of the Saturn was also under the influence of alcohol and he was placed under arrest at the scene. As a junior operator, he was also unlicensed at the time of the crash. He was transported to Melrose Wakefield Hospital and booked at the Wakefield Police station after his release.
Xie was charged with operating under the influence causing serious bodily injury and the negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
The juvenile was charged with operating under the influence causing serious bodily injury, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation/junior operator driving during restricted hours, and minor in possession of alcohol.
The crash is under investigation by the Wakefield Police with assistance from the Massachusetts
State Police Reconstruction Team.
