Buon Natale from the Wakefield Sons & Daughters of Italy

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

If you’ve been reading about our monthly meetings and activities, you may have noticed they often involve food. We’ve had appetizers, delicious Italian foods, chicken pie, hot dogs and hamburgers … you name it. But at Christmas, our traditional meal is Chinese food. This year was no different. Members met at Tulip Hibachi Asian Cuisine in Stoneham for a meeting and buffet dinner.

We began by discussing that the Lodge made another donation from our charity fund. This one went to the Wakefield Council on Aging so they could by a new coffee urn and several months’ worth of coffee for guests at the Senior Center. We certainly try not to discriminate by age: we made donations for children to have Christmas gifts, two college scholarships for high school seniors, the food pantry and now our coffee for our local seniors. Again, we are appreciative to businesses and attendees who contributed to our charity auction so we can support these worthy causes. Our 2023 Annual Auction will be on Tuesday, April 18th.

The discussion moved to the upcoming election for Lodge Officers and the roles that will be open next year. The highlight of the evening was the induction of three new members: Karen Rotondi, Nancy Errico and Tom Procopio. We happily welcomed them into our Lodge. As always, if anyone is curious about the Lodge, they should contact President Paula Sasso with any questions, or attend a meeting to see what we are all about.

As per an earlier decision, we will not be having any regular meetings in January of February. But we will be posting news and photos on our Facebook page.

We wish you Buon Natale e Felice Anno nuovo, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
