The Wakefield (and beyond) Lodge shared a grazing table of Italian delights, donated to a local charity and planned for the rest of the year at the October meeting.

The West Side Social Club was festooned in red, white and green for the meeting. Many members made appetizers to share – enough that members could have a full meal! They included a charcuterie board, bread and hummus, veggies and dip, sausage/pepper/onion, focaccia bread, pesto bowtie pasta, pizza, caprese apps, meat and cheese tray, caponata and much more.

In addition to sharing many wonderful treats, Lodge members discussed a trip to the North End later this month. A visit to the new North End Historical Museumand an authentic Italian lunch is on the agenda for that outing. In November, the traditional ‘Lodge-giving’ will be another opportunity to gather and share our favorite foods – Italian and otherwise.

In addition to all the food-related activities, the Lodge also ran a Baby Item’s Drive at the October meeting. Diapers, bottles, blankets, clothing and other baby items were brought in to support Heartbeat Pregnancy Health Center of Burlington, MA. Also, the Lodge will host the annual Veteran’s Breakfast at the Wakefield Senior Center. The date is set for November 14. A favorite way to celebrate Italian-American Heritage month is by supporting our communities.

If the Lodge sounds like fun, you are welcome to attend a meeting or activity to see for yourself. Reach out to President Toni Encarnacao at WakefieldOSIA@gmail.com. Also, we hope you will follow us on Facebook. Thanks for reading!
