Boy Impaled by Tree at Breakheart Reservation: UPDATED

The boy was riding a bicycle when he was impaled by a tree branch in his chest, according to state police.

Saugus, MA — An 11-year-old boy was impaled by a tree branch at Breakheart Reservation in Saugus Thursday evening.

Trooper Paul Sullivan of the Massachusetts State Police told Patch that the boy was riding a bicycle when he was impaled by a tree branch in the chest region. The child was transported to Massachusetts General hospital, and was conscious and talking when transported to the hospital.

Sullivan told Patch that the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening at this time.

State Police spokesperson Dave Procopio told Patch that a state trooper spoke to the boy at the hospital, and he remains conscious and alert at Mass. General Hospital, and is receiving emergency care.
