Eleven Wakefield Residents Riding in Pan-Mass Challenge
The cyclists will raise money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund.

Eleven Wakefield residents will be among thousands of people who will bike hundreds of miles cross-state this weekend to raise money for cancer research.
The bikers are part of the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge, a bike-a-thon with eleven different routes that will take approximately 5,500 cyclists through 46 towns across Massachusetts. There are six two-day routes that range from 153 to 190 miles and five one-day rides that range from 25 to 110 miles.
In 2012, cyclists are required to raise between $500 and $4,300 to ride in the PMC, depending on the chosen route.

“The PMC is the gold standard of athletic fundraising events,” said Billy Starr, founder and executive director of the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge. “PMCers are as committed to raising money for cancer research as they are to pedaling the miles. PMC cyclists are all heart and soul.”
Since 1980, the PMC has raised $338 million for adult and pediatric cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund. The PMC gives 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar directly to the Jimmy Fund.
