2012 Kelly McLean Thumbs-Up Walk

From the Galvin Middle School: 

Please join the family and friends of Kelly McLean for a walk around Lake Quannapowitt to support the permanent Kelly McLean Memorial Scholarship Fund that was established in March of 2010 following the death of Kelly from an unexpected complication after surgery.  

The walk will be held on Thursday, May 10th (rain date May 17^th). Registration will begin at 4:00 p.m. on the Lower Common with a registration fee of $5.00 per walker/$20.00 per family. The walk will begin at 5:00 p.m. with music provided by DJs Pete and Evan Healey.  

The walk will include a loop through Lakeside Cemetery to visit Kelly’s gravesite where flowers can be placed. A limited selection of flowers will be available for graveside placement. Please feel free to bring your own offerings. To further benefit the scholarship fund, bracelets will be available for sale. Also, T-shirts, sponsored by the Galvin Best Buddies (a program that was dear to Kelly) will also be available for purchase.

After the walk, please join us for closing remarks as we celebrate Kelly’s life with a picnic. Please feel free to bring your own chairs, blankets and picnic. Please join us on the walk to support this worthy benefit in Kelly’s memory. This permanent fund is managed by the Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation of Wakefield. A scholarship, in Kelly’s name, will be awarded to a local student in need of financial assistance who is pursuing an education in the medical field.
