On October 12 at 6:30 p.m. author Jay Atkinson will speak at Beebe Library, 345 Main St. in Wakefield. Atkinson’s appearance is part of the library’s “True Crime” series.
A Methuen native, Atkinson describes himself on his website (jayatkinson.com) as “a novelist, short story writer, essayist, critic, investigative journalist, and itinerant amateur athlete.” His book, “Legends of Winter Hill” tells the story of a year he spent working as a rookie private eye for McCain Investigations, founded by the legendary Boston police officer, Joe McCain, Sr. He’ll talk to us about some of the cases he worked, “looking for people who didn't want to be found, following guys who didn't want to be followed, and entering neighborhoods where [he] was not at all welcome.”
