On Tuesday, November 15, the Wakefield Council on Aging will host a free presentation by Attorneys Patrick Curley and Lucy Budman entitled “Protect your Home and Savings against Nursing Home Costs, Medicaid, and Estate Taxes”.
The presentation will take place at the Wakefield McCarthy Senior Center, 30 Converse Street, Wakefield at 10:00 a.m.
The presentation will focus on specific strategies seniors can put in place today to protect their homes and their savings against the potentially devastating costs of nursing home care and against Estate Taxes.
“The nightly news has shaken the confidence of seniors,” said Attorney Curley. “Most ominously we hear of looming government cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, and the
possibility of higher taxes. My mission is to restore seniors’ confidence and empower them with strategies to put them back in the driver’s seat. There is no better feeling
than knowing that my expertise has helped a senior enjoy the peace of mind that they have protected their assets and loved ones in such uncertain times.”
“One of the topics of the seminar will be trusts,” said Attorney Budman, who holds a Masters of Law degree in Taxation. “Certain types of trusts offer the potential to protect assets against nursing home costs and Estate Taxes. Such trusts require very careful attorney expertise to prepare to truly achieve those goals. At the seminar, I will review different types of trusts so attendees understand which type of Trust offers the potential of protecting assets and which does not. We will also explore the benefits of the new Homestead Statute, which offers unique asset protection features for homeowners.”
“I anticipate a large turnout for this event because our seniors are so concerned about this topic,” said Judy Luciano, Executive Director of the Wakefield McCarthy Senior Center. “We are fortunate to have Attorney Curley as a featured speaker because he is one of only 19 Certified Elder Law Attorneys in Massachusetts.”
