
Plaza Jazz, part of the 2012 Berklee Summer in the City concert series presented by Natixis Global Asset Management, continues with a free concert byJavier Garcia on September 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library.
Born in Santander (Spain) in 1983, Javier Garcia started his musical studies at the age of 8 with Juan Jose Saenz and Paulino Garcia. He received a bachelor of arts in classical music performance at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid with José Luis Rodrigo, and is currently studying at Berklee with David Fiuczynski, Mick Goodrick, and Bruce Saunders, thanks to the support of AIE (Spanish Performers Association) and Berklee.
Garcia was awarded a music scholarship for three consecutive years by the prestigious Fundación Marcelino Botin for higher education and one year in New York with Pablo Saiz Villegas (classical guitar), Mike Stern (electric guitar), and Pedro Da Silva (NYU film scoring teacher).

He won the Guthrie Govan Contest and performed with Guthrie Govan and John Finn. (2011)
He has given recitals in different places in Spain and countries such as the United States, France, Italy, Croatia, Austria, Finland, and Mexico. He has played in various jazz festivals including the Heineken festival in Puerto Rico, where he shared the stage with Paco de Lucia, Michel Camilo, Jose Heredia, Giovanni Hidalgo, Christian Scott, and Abraham Laboriel.
The Javier G. F. Escudero Band has signed a contract with Jazz Revelation Records to record in its upcoming album.
