Rise Up Singing

All are invited to our summer Rise Up Singing group which will take place one week earlier than usual on Friday, July 13 at 7:30 PM in the Social Hall of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Wakefield.  The church is located at 326 Main Street, across from the Post Office. There is limited street parking and behind the church, as well as behind the Town Building across the street. We will not be meeting in August but will be back to our normal third Friday schedule on September 21. Rise Up Singing is a sort of “round robin” community singing gathering, inspired by but not limited to the Rise Up Singing book. Singers and instrumentalists of all ages are welcome to this informal and spirited evening of shared music making. Participants come from our Wakefield, Reading, Stoneham, Melrose and beyond. Bring your singing and picking friends. Songs of all genres are welcome, whether or not they are among the 1200 songs included in the book. No music reading ability is needed. Bring a copy of Rise Up Singing if you have one.  Some copies will be available for those who don’t have their own, with thanks to the Wakefield Cultural Council. Free Will Offering. We encourage you to bring a non-perishable food item or a reusable grocery bag for the food pantry. Rise Up Singing is a program of the Music Ministry of the church which is beginning its celebration of its Bicentennial Year. For more information, call Reverend Maddie at her home office: 508-358-7091, email her at msifantus@uuma.org or leave a message on the church answering machine (781-245-4632).
